About Dan Mansell

Dan Mansell fell in love with the 2nd Congressional District in the late 1970's and returned to live in 1991. He first visited the Selma area while serving in the US Army when he went home with his roommate to farm tobacco in Johnston County. Dan was born and raised in Flint, MI, graduating from Flint Central High School in 1975. He then went on to serve in the US Army from 1975-1978 and was stationed in Fort Bragg and in South Korea. Dan then continued to serve in the reserves for a further 13 years. 

Dan graduated from the University of Michigan in 1979 with a BA in History and Physical Education. Upon graduation, he moved back to Flint to work for General Motors as a supervisor from 1978-1987 and then he worked as the senior project manager of Genesee Construction Services Co., the fifth largest industrial painting and fireproofing company in the nation.

Dan served on the Johnston County Planning Board from 2000-2004, the Board of
Trustees for Johnston Memorial Hospital from 2004-2006, and is currently on the Johnston County YMCA Advisory Board.

Dan served on the Executive Committee of the NC Republican Party from 1995-2006 and was the 2nd Congressional District Chairman from 2003-2006. Dan has been married to the former Crystal Coleman of Rankin, MI for 24 years and says she is "the love of my life, and marrying her is the best thing I have done." Dan & Crystal are members of Centenary United Methodist church in Selma, NC where Dan was on the council and was head of Volunteers in Missions for six years.
